Sunday, 5/16/10. "Rolling, rolling, rolling...keep that RV rolling....(Rawhide?) It's 9:50 am as we leave Topeka, Kansas, on I-70W again, along part of the Sante Fe Trail. Tim is yelling "YE HAH!" "Sweetie, this is not a covered wagon."

The Kansas terrain is flat, with lots of cows and....living snow fences.., so they say. It's been a hard day's ride and Cowboy Tim is yearning for some beef. Seeing the chuck wagon up ahead, he slows down the rig and heads toward the lights. WENDY'S !! Blue-Cheese Bacon Burger and Crispy Chicken sandwiches for lunch (not our usual diet, but OK for now).

Pushing our way through Kansas today to make Denver, Colorado, before sundown. At 6:30pm we find a camping spot in Cherry Creek State Park, Aurora, Co. They have unique activities, i.e. model airplane flying, horseback riding, and a shooting range. Inside our RV you can observe a unique activity when having turkey spaghetti for dinner (a few of you out there know this trick!).

From our camping spot, you can see the snow-covered Rocky Mtns.

RVTip#4 - make Walmart your friend. There have been Walmarts in about every state we have traveled through. Walmart is a convenient place to stop and buy more STUFF. It's great when we need a few basics, i.e. milk, paper towels, laundry soap, more velcro tape, food for a 2-3 days, etc. Walmart will even allow an RV to park overnight. What a way to get up-close and personal!
Monday, 5/17/10. Leaving the Denver area via I-70W and the weather is just perfect again. The changes in the terrain are magical as we roll through the White River National Forest and popular Vail. The mountains ahead in Utah are stunning...until we come to the "steep grade ahead" signs. They should put grip handles on each side of the passenger's seat, because that's where you clutch tightly when feeling like the RV is going to careen off the road with all your STUFF.

It's getting late and we locate an RV Park in Moab, Utah called the Riverside Oasis, 2 miles south of Arches National Park. This campground was not quite the "Oasis" it boasted about. So many noises throughout the evening and REMtime--- crowing rooster, road traffic, waterfill around our site. Tomorrow is another day, so then we will just pick up and leave.
