At 10:30 a.m. it is a sunny 62 degrees as we head into Seattle.
Downtown, historic Pike Place Market is the oldest outdoor market in the country. There are flowers by the bucketful, flying fish, fresh pastries, fruits and vegetables and a whole lot of vendors. Current event Philippine Cultural Festival is entertaining.
The Space Needle, built for the 1962 World's Fair, is the most recognized landmark of the Seattle skyline. Of course, we plan to ride to the top, but Tim says he needs to rest his eyes first.
Goodbye Seattle!-- wish we could spend more time. Before the Canadian border we find Mt. Vernon RV Park just off of I-5 in the heart of Skagit Valley. Mt. Vernon is the center of the county's booming tulip bulb-growing industry. The fresh scallops and shrimp purchased at Pike Place Market make an excellent dinner.
Sunday, 6/6/10. Leave Mt. Vernon at 12N. Hey..there's a Walmart!--stock up on food items (and wine) prior to reaching the Canadian border. Passports, Zack certification, and RVDS in check. Hello British Columbia!
Breathtaking scenery along the winding road. Whistler will be a whole new experience! Are we there yet?
