WHISTLER, B.C.

Monday thru Friday, 6/7-11/10.

Yesterday evening we arrived at Mountainside Lodge- Whister Village- and its surroundings, knowing that we would love being here for the next five days.
When checking into a room, you usually bring along a suitcase or two...right? Since all our STUFF in the RV is self-contained in bins, closets & refrig, we have no suitcases. When we rolled up, the desk clerk smiled (with an uncontrollable flinch) and directed us back out to the basement elevator located in the underground garage.

Our welcoming, cozy room includes a living/dining area, full kitchen, 2 bathrooms!, and sleeping area in upstairs loft with a walk-in sauna. There's a great window view of snow-capped mountains.

Zack also has a great window view.

Whister is located 75 miles north of Vancouver, B.C. in the Coast Mountains and offers a range of seasonal-based activities and amenities for everyone. Whining is the last thing you'll hear. The mountain scenery is stunning. You can easily stroll through the village to 200+ shops!, 90+ restaurants, and several food markets. Whistler was the Host Mountain Resort of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR WEEK IN WHISTER.....

Walks through the village. Casual and fine dining. One Greek restaurant had the best calamari and lamb chops ever-- at 1980 prices. Cow's IceCream tops B&J's.

Bears, bears, everywhere! Pam!! Is that a bear crossing the road?... or a big man wearing a big fur coat? Remember that night?

One day we emptied the RV of all the STUFF, deep cleaned it inside and out, reorganized, and put the STUFF back. At the multiplex theater on site, we enjoyed the movie Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett. What crazy people would hang from one little rope and zip on a cable line through trees and over rivers?... Joan and Tim!

In 3 hours we completed 5 ziplines (1 at 1500 ft long) through a rainforest and walked a network of suspension bridges, boardwalks and trails. It was quite a heart-pounding adventure.

The hot tub and pool at the lodge was relaxing after a day of rigorous activity.

Goodbye Whistler! Thanks for providing us temporary roots...we had a wonderful time. No hesitations, though, in returning to our RV sanctuary. We are finding that it is a pleasure to live within a small, controlled environment only to walk outside your door to a chosen place of interest, beauty and scope.

At 1:00 p.m. we head south on Hwy99 en route to Horseshoe Bay. At 3:00 p.m. we're rolling onto the ferry (in line with the BIG trucks!) for Nanaimo, Vancouver Island. What gorgeous water, land and boat views!.. thinking of you Cory, your boat and sailing enjoyment. Be safe!

It's 70 miles to B.C. capitol Victoria, but hey..halfway there we see a nice RV site at Riverside Campgrounds & Cabins. Light up the grill!..we're having chicken, stuffing with cranberries, spinach, and roasted marshmellows for dinner. What's "high tea" everyone is talking about? Suppose we will find out tomorrow in Victoria.
